Have you ever noticed how many choices we have the opportunity to make each and every day? As I've sat here in a hospital with Mom for the last month, it's given me alot of time to observe, think, reflect and discover.
Before this all happened and I had to work, well, I didn't even think about what to wear...a uniform. Or whether to go to work, HAD TO in order to get paid! So those were pretty easy, 'no brainers' if you will.
But here, every day we're faced with new challenges, new choices. And sometimes, it's the "choosing" that seems to be the hardest part. Once decided on a course of action, well, we move forward, usually with conviction.
I guess we all want to make the right choices (all the time), but life isn't that way. And it's OK. We choose, we learn, and maybe we choose differently next time; maybe not. I think, no, believe, that it's the whole range of emotions, ability to feel and express them, and commitment to move forward that keeps most of us going. Life isn't always easy, yes, there are challenges, but it's how we choose to live with them that define us.
God, please help me to make the right choices today!

- Hi You all! My name is Karen. First I'd like to say that I've been truly blessed with my husband, Vince, for 23 years now, and with our three children, Wayne, Shannah and Travis. Vince has been in the military for 27 years, and as the kids are now all teenagers, I stay pretty darn busy! What's a (semi) modern Mom to do? When I'm not cooking, cleaning, playing taxi, etc., my greatest passion is quilting! My sister, Barbara, literally dragged me into a quilt shop about 11 years ago, firmly stating that I needed a hobby! What a journey that has been. It took me 3 hours to pick out the fabrics for my 1st quilt! Don't laugh, it's true! Yet, I loved every minute of it; I think it's the whole creative process. I've gone from barely being able to read a pattern to designing them. All in 11 years, told you I was quick! Without a doubt though, what I love most are the friendships I've formed with other quilters! We've shared alot; laughter and tears, joys and sorrows. So whether you are a long-time quilting buddie or a new one, I say Welcome! I hope we'll have the opportunity to share and learn alot from each other!

Having the ability to chose sets us apart from other mammals...making the right choice, well that's another story.
